Five years ago, Taylor already had one year of medical school under his belt and Alex was just about to begin her first year, nervous about moving (again) to a new state, making new friends, and beginning the incredibly long and arduous process of becoming a physician. A warm mid-summer afternoon in July, Alex remembers meeting Taylor at the school’s big-little mentorship BBQ. Thanks to her big, Nicole Lacap, who was good friends with Taylor and his friend group, they were introduced while standing in line for the buffet. Alex remembers noting how tall and good-looking Taylor was…while Taylor of course does not remember any of this, probably because he was distracted by the free food in front of him. A week or so later, they were reintroduced at a medical school party called the Osteoblast, which in case you’re curious, is a cell responsible for building bone. Taylor remembers immediately being drawn to Alex’s freckles and sweet sounding voice. They shared their first kiss that night, but the night otherwise remains a blur for both of them. Fast forward a month later, they went on their first date despite literal tornado warnings that were popping up in the area. They weathered the storm and went to dinner, only to find out later that night that a tornado did in fact touch down in the town over. Taylor was known as “tornado Tom” to Alex’s family (given they only knew his name started with a ’T’) for months thereafter.

 

Taylor spent his third year of medical school living in Spring Lake Heights, which is where they fell more in love with each other, and also the area. Alex joined Taylor down the shore for her third year of medical school, where they moved in together and shared their first apartment in Toms River. Now, they’re technically “coworkers” completing their residencies within the same hospital system in North Jersey. Given that the shore has been such an integral part of their love story, it only made sense that they wanted to get married there and share it with you all.
